Welcome to Day 5

Day 5 is here and I am going strong! We had a dinner last night with lots of yogi friends, and most of them eat healthy as a lifestyle. I got some very nice recipes that I will be posting soon.
I must admit: the shrimp and chicken that was grilled looked might spectacular!
I casually mentioned that we were doing this cleanse and everyone was so supportive. There were many other potluck vegetarian options, so it made things easy to fill in with greens!

How are YOU doing?

  1. I just wanted to share my opinion about one of the recipes in the back of the book. I made the one on page 206: Cuban Black Beans and Brown Rice with Roasted Squash and Gluten-Free Crackers. It was fantastic!! I highly recommend it right down to the suggested crackers (Mary's Gone Crackers).

Toward the end of the evening I started having those familiar cravings (you may have had them a time or two) for a bowl of ice cream. I was surprised at how the orange I chose instead satisfied that urge to indulge. I don't know if it was an especially good orange from a great crop or what, but it was so sweet and tasty, maybe the best orange I have had in many years. Maybe this cleanse is helping my taste buds to reaquaint and embrace the simple beauty of natural food.

Today's kitchen adventure involves page 174 and 175: Tofu Scramble and Breakfast Cookies! This should be interesting. I've never even seen tofu, let alone cooked with it before. Wish me luck!

p.s. - I have a huge slab of pork with a wonderful asian barbeque concoction just cooking away in the slow cooker for the rest of the family. That's going to be a tough meal to resist!
